JYJ’s Kim Junsu has captured the hearts of Japanese audiences.
On May 15th, Kim Junsu’s agency, C-JeS Entertainment stated, “Since the 13th, Kim Junsu has been performing his high quality ’2014 XIA the Best Ballad Spring Tour Concert in Japan’ concerts at Tokyo’s Yoyogi National Gymnasium with an all live orchestra and band. With a 20 person orchestra and 7 person live band, Kim Junsu will perform his musical numbers, ballads and OSTs in front of a sold out crowd of 11,000 fans per day and a total of 33,000 fans.’
This is Kim Junsu’s first musical and ballad concert in Japan, and it was planned to repay Japanese fans who go all the way to Korea to see Kim Junsu in his musicals. For 150 minutes, Kim Junsu sang numbers from his musicals ‘Mozart’, ‘Elizabeth’, and ‘December’ as well as his OST songs, such as ‘I Love You’ and ‘You Are So Beautiful’.
As this concert is for the Japanese fans, he prepared Japanese ballads as well. Amongst others, Kim Junsu sang ‘Kanashimi no Yukue’ and ‘STORY’. In particular, Kim Junsu prepared a medley of previous Tohoshinki songs with the orchestra.
A Japanese representative stated, “In Japan, many people enjoy seeing musicals. ‘Elizabeth’, which Kim Junsu appeared in, is also popular in Japan. Japanese fans even travel to Korea to see Kim Junsu’s musicals. His musicals captivate those fans and they come to love Korean musicals. Fans had a great reason to be happy when they heard about this musical concert.”
Hikari-san, a fan who attended the concert, said “I feel like I watched many concerts in one. His talent is a blessing and for 150 minutes, I was deeply touched. With the orchestra, he was soft and mellow and in other times, he sang powerfully. He really is an amazing artist. I plan on travelling to Korea to see his upcoming musical, ‘Dracula’.”
Musical actress Jung Sun Ah appeared as a guest for these concerts. Jung Sun Ah performed numbers from ‘Mozart’ and ‘Elizabeth’ with Kim Junsu and also sang a number from ‘Wicked’ as well as a Japanese favorite, ‘First Love’.
Kim Junsu will perform his third concert at 6PM on May 15th at Yoyogi National Gymnasium.
