Junsu, a member of the idol group JYJ, is a changed man.
The singer attended the press conference before JYJ’s “The Return of the King” concert at Shanghai’s Mercedes Benz Arena where he gave his fans a snippet of his life as an actor, according to the Korean publication Osen Entertainment.
Junsu has flourished in the musical theater industry, recently being cast as Count Dracula for the musical “Dracula.”
“There’s a different way of singing for musicals, which was difficult to adjust to in the beginning. Because of my background as an idol member, I used to sing like one for the musicals, but I’ve adjusted now,” explained Junsu when asked about the difficulties transitioning from singing to acting.
Aside from his acting career, Junsu has gone on to progress in his music career as a solo artist. Junsu had held his “2014 XIA The Best Ballad Spring Tour Concert in Japan” in Tokyo earlier this summer.
Tickets for all of his six shows were completely sold out as the concert was reportedly prepared for the many Japanese fans who traveled to Korea just to attend the 27-year-old’s musicals.
The artist officially began his solo career in 2010 with the release of his Japanese single “Xiah,” according to the Japanese media outlet Oricon Style.
Despite his success, Junsu revealed at the recent press conference that he still finds it difficult to see himself as a “celebrity.”
“It’s weird calling myself a celebrity because I feel like I haven’t done enough on screen. I love being in musicals. I’m more comfortable being called a musical actor because I’m accustomed to people telling me how much they enjoyed me in ‘Elizabeth’ and ‘Dracula,” explained Junsu.
